Vita
Inspired by the art of weaving. The threads of our lives meet and collide, intertwine and wriggle, creating the greatest of all weaves called 'vita '.
Inspiration
Weaving is one of the oldest crafts in the world. Its history roots in 6000 BCE. This art was slowly perfected and refined over thousands of years.
It involves entwining a set of vertical threads, the wrap, with a set of horizontal ones, the weft, alternately.
This collection is dedicated to the Moirai. In old Greek mythology, the three Μοῖραι wave the life thread of each being – Clòtho holds a distaff in her hand; Làchesis draws out all the events and actions of our life; and Àtropos cuts the thread.
The threads of our lives meet and collide, intertwine and wriggle, creating that great weave that is called vita (this is the Italian for “life”).
Weaving represents the unfolding of our lives and is a profound metaphor for the universe.
Obsidian
One of the many wonders that volcanic activity is able to create.
The name "Obsidian" seems to come from Obsidius, a Roman explorer who found some black stones in Ethiopia which he called "lapis obsidianus".
Pure obsidian is a very dark colour. Among Mayan and Aztecs, obsidian had more value than Gold.
Its first use dates back to about 700,000 years ago, while the remains of a precise and expert workmanship date back to the fifth millennium BC.
